ATLANTA, GA (January 20, 2011) — Kellen Company, the premiere global association management company, has been awarded the Gold Award in the Association TRENDS 2010 All-Media Contest. The award was given in the category of “Production of an Association Piece” for Kellen’s work on behalf of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) for creation of a suite of specialty brochures for ASHRAE’s K-12 educational outreach. This is the second consecutive win for Kellen on behalf of ASHRAE, which also took home the Gold in the 2009 Association TRENDS All-Media Contest.
The K-12 brochures were segmented by elementary school, middle school and high school. Each was designed to feature energy efficiency awareness in homes and buildings while also targeting age-appropriate education about heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC&R). Engineering occupations were also featured for high school students to reinforce the professional opportunities in the growing field of HVAC&R engineering.
“Raising energy efficiency awareness in our homes and buildings with younger generations has a positive impact on our future,” says Tarra Holman, ASHRAE’s assistant manager of student activities. “These brochures are specially designed to create interest in the busy lives of kids by connecting with them on their level. They can make a difference and HVAC&R-related engineering is in growing demand around the world.”
Judged by a panel of experts, the Association TRENDS All-Media Contest recognizes the best communication and media efforts in the association and nonprofit world. The 2010 winners will be honored at the Association TRENDS Salute to Association Excellence, Feb. 16, at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C.
