NEW YORK (May 15, 2014) — Kellen Company, the global leader in association management, announced today the appointment of Kathleen Brown, M.P.A., CAE, to the position of national program director. Brown’s primary role will be to develop, manage and implement all national programs for the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA), the only national volunteer health agency in the United States dedicated solely to the fight against the autoimmune neuromuscular disease called myasthenia gravis.
“Kathleen brings superb experience in non-profit management as well as program development and delivery to MGFA,” said Peter Rush, Chairman and CEO of Kellen Company. “Kellen is dedicated to delivering continuous improvement and innovation to our client’s programs, and Kathleen will be an invaluable asset in ensuring we continue to meet those high standards.”
Brown joins Kellen Company with more than 25 years of not-for-profit management experience. Previously, she was director of research for the Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF), where she specialized in managing the scientific and research grants program. She has also served national and local not-for-profit organizations, including the National Kidney Foundation of NY/NJ, the National Council of Jewish Women, the American Turkish Society and National PTA.
Brown has also served as chair of the New York Society of Association Executives (NYSAE) Education Committee, and the Professional Development Committee, among other leadership roles. She received NYSAE’s Outstanding Committee Chair award in 2000 and 2012, and the Distinguished Service Award in 2011.
“I look forward to bringing my experience in association and program management to Kellen and MGFA,” said Brown. “MGFA does a tremendous amount of good in trying to find a cure for myasthenia gravis and acting as a network to improve the lives of those with this disease. I look forward to contributing to that mission.”
Brown is a graduate of Baruch College, CUNY in New York City, where she holds a master’s of public administration. She was inducted into Pi Alpha Alpha of the National Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration, and is an American Society of Association Executives’ (ASAE) Certified Association Executive (CAE).
