NEW YORK (April 14, 2015) – Kellen Company, a global leader in association services, has been retained by the New England Society in the City of New York (NES) for full-service management. NES is one of the oldest social and charitable organizations in the country, founded 210 years ago to promote friendship, charity and mutual assistance among and on behalf of New Englanders living in New York.
NES will operate new headquarters out of Kellen’s Manhattan office in midtown. Kellen Senior Account Executive Emily Brochstein will serve as Executive Director and be supported by Kellen’s financial, meetings and communications staff to manage and execute the daily operations and events of the Society. This includes two signature charitable programs, namely the NES Scholarship Program to assist New York City students at New England colleges and universities; as well as the annual New England Society Book Awards, which recognize books of merit that honor New England and its culture.
“This is a very exciting time for our organization,” said Jay Sherwood, President of NES. “Our partnership with Kellen means we now have a whole team of experts leading us, allowing us to focus exclusively on our mission, fellowship and membership events.”
“We are looking forward to bringing our expertise in charitable organizations and nonprofit management along with the inherent efficiencies that come along with the association management model,” said Peter Rush, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kellen Company. “Emily and the team are uniquely positioned to help take NES to the next level.”
Brochstein brings a decade of nonprofit and association management experience to NES. At Kellen, she most recently served as the Associate Executive Director of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, New York City Chapter, an 800 member professional society, and as the General Manager of The Copper Club, a leading industry networking group. In her role at Kellen, she has directed more than 30 events per year, from small socials for 25 people to major galas with more than 1,000 attendees. She has deep expertise in scholarship programs, member communications and newsletters as well as web and database solutions.
NES will host its Annual Founders Day Celebration in May where members will have the opportunity to meet the new Kellen staff.
