ATLANTA, GA (February 10, 2016) – Kellen, a global leader in association services and communications, is proud to announce that the Georgia Society of Association Executives (GSAE) has honored Kellen Senior Account Executive Mike Pennington with the 2015 Alan R. Johnson Leadership Award. Pennington, an 11-year veteran of the association industry, was nominated for his continued dedication and support within the association management industry. The award recognizes the ability to influence others by modeling positive behavior, gaining cooperation from others, and fostering creativity and innovative thinking.
The Alan R. Johnson Award, established in 1994 and named in memory of a past chair of the GSAE Foundation, is given to an association executive in Georgia who has demonstrated qualities of teamwork, vision and servant leadership.
At Kellen, Pennington currently serves as Executive Director of the Retail Gift Card Association (RGCA) and World Alliance for Retail Excellence and Standards (WARES), overseeing strategic direction, executive committee function and board support, as well as directing the general operations of the organization. He also serves on the GSAE Board of Directors, and Immediate Past Chair of the GSAE Foundation Board of Trustees. In addition to his professional experience, Pennington serves several committees and groups at his church, including the Executive Committee, Administrative Council, and Men’s Ministry.

Prior to joining Kellen, Pennington led association management activities at the Georgia Economic Developers Association. He graduated from Auburn University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in international business and marketing.
Pennington was present to receive the award at the Georgia Tech Hotel & Conference Center on December 9, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia.
