Your association probably has a busy season. For some associations, that season can be the holiday season, based on their industry. Some of them might be obvious- did you know there’s an American Holiday Decorators Association? (There’s an association for everything!) Some of our own Kellen Company clients and their members also experience an uptick in activity during December. Here’s what they’re up to:
The Messenger Courier Association of America (MCAA) represents the courier industry – the same-day delivery industry which includes expediters and shippers.
The getting ready for the holidays is a busy time of year for many of us, but for those in the shipping industry the weeks leading up to Christmas can be frantic as millions of packages need to be delivered to homes and businesses across America. For members of Kellen client the Messenger Courier Association of America (MCAA) this means long hours and extra staff as these customized shipping experts make the most time sensitive or difficult deliveries. Throughout the rest of the year these transportation specialists deliver pharmaceuticals, machine parts and financial documents, but during the holidays when the normal supply chain reaches capacity they mobilize to help fill in for shipping giants like UPS or FedEx. Because of the efforts of the hundreds of MCAA member companies stores will stay stocked with merchandise and holiday gifts will reach their destination on time.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals – New York City Chapter (NYC – AFP) is a local chapter of the national organization for fundraisers.
The members of our association– nonprofit development professionals– are quite busy this time of year cultivating, soliciting and processing gifts. AFP board member and media personality, Laura Fredricks, suggests to call top donors between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Especially since Thanksgiving was earlier this year. Gaining an extra work week between Thanksgiving and December gives the organizations more time “psychologically” to capture important end-of-year gifts.

The Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) is a network of the world’s leading airlines, suppliers and related companies committed to elevating the level of the airline passenger experience.
APEX members’ employees help millions of families see their loved ones over the holidays and throughout the year. There are so many moving parts to a successful flight – from ticketing, to boarding, to baggage claim – and then there’s the fun part of travel which the majority of APEX members’ scope lies – embedded in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems within the seat-back or provided tablet, wine, Wi-Fi, and on some flights, food! An excellent passenger experience is a tall order for our members, but they work day in and day out to accomplish it. At the APEX EXPO each fall, members roam the halls to determine which new product or service is going to enhance their passengers’ experience best. So what are our members doing this season? Working – a lot – to make sure the busiest time of the year is a happier one. That includes ensuring the newest movies and tvs are loaded onto IFE systems, testing WiFi, overseeing in-flight services (food, drinks and duty-free shopping), and so much more.
