It’s a new year and Facebook’s new call-to-actions buttons are a shiny new gift to marketers and PR professionals. Why? Because they will offer more metrics on what people are doing outside of Facebook and how they’re spending their money. It’s all part of Facebook’s strategy to make itself more appealing to businesses.
Previously, the only call-to-action options were on ads and videos –which was a great first step. Thanks to the latest round of updates, we are now able to use these buttons to boost website traffic and increase ways to reach audiences for our clients.
According to Facebook: “Designed to bring a business’s most important objective to the forefront of its Facebook presence, call-to-action buttons link to any destination on or off Facebook that aligns with a business’s goals.”
So what are your options? Currently, there are seven call-to-action options for pages. These are:
- Book Now
- Contact Us
- Use App
- Play Game
- Shop Now
- Watch Video
And here are just some of the ways the buttons could be used:
- Book Now: For meetings and other event registration
- Contact Us: For brick-and-mortar businesses to grab local customers
- Shop Now: For any service or retailer
- Sign Up: To grow client email distribution lists or increase membership
- Use App: To increase app use or downloads
It is important to note that Facebook hasn’t made the feature available for all Pages yet. Once it launches, Page admins will find the option on the Cover Photo. Speaking of which, admins will want to create a new cover photo that draws attention to the button.
Summing up: Not only do call-to-action buttons present a new way to engage with audiences on Facebook, but they will also provide metrics on external browsing and spending behavior. We are excited to use this new feature and the information it provides to guide our clients’ content and digital strategies. How will you use Facebook’s new call-to-action buttons?
