I’m a proud Syracuse University alum and I’m especially impressed by how the university uses social media in a myriad of ways. One of the coolest ideas I’ve seen: the Career Services office manages a twitter handle called “WorkingOrange” which highlights SU alums. Every day there is a new alum guest tweeter who shares details of their workday and answers questions. It’s great for students to see where their Syracuse degree can take them.
So what does that have to do with associations? If you’re looking for content for your social media channels, you could bring in guest tweeters from your membership. Consider setting up a “Member Monday” where one of your members takes over for a full day and talks about what they’re up to throughout their workday. Your followers would definitely be interested to learn the day to day activities of other people in their industry.
