More than 3.9 million people tuned in to the TODAY show on NBC on October 25th and many of them learned a little something about antimicrobial copper, thanks to the Copper Development Association (CDA) and Kellen Communications.
October was MRSA Awareness Month and the CDA wanted to raise awareness about copper’s antimicrobial properties, which can kill superbugs and bacteria like MRSA.
The Antimicrobial Copper team arrived at 4 a.m. to wait in line at Rockefeller Plaza to secure a prime location. Dressed as doctors and ready to answer questions about the dietary importance of copper and the antimicrobial benefits in healthcare and other settings, our team carried signs saying “Cu+,” “Copper Kills MRSA” and “Copper Kills Superbugs.” As we waited for the show to start, we handed out CDA branded dark chocolate, which contains copper.
During the morning, we live-tweeted about being on the TODAY show, adding backstage photos from the Rockefeller Plaza and including the hashtag #MRSA, while tagging @AntimicrobialCu and the @TodayShow in our tweets.
We appeared on TV during two different segments of the show and posed for photos with TODAY host Matt Lauer. Check out the snapshots from the day below!
