On April 28, New York Women in Communications presented the 2014 Matrix Awards honoring seven remarkable women who are changing the world through their work in the communications industry. The awards were given during a luncheon hosted by Interpublic Group at the Waldorf Astoria, emceed by the entertaining duo, Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. This year marked the 44th anniversary of the Matrix Awards. Although the purpose of the event hasn’t changed, it’s important to stay relevant and determine new ways to engage your audience. In order to keep this year’s program fresh and exciting, NYWICI added a few new digital elements to the event:
- The Bosco Photo Booth– The Matrix VIP’s were encouraged to stop at a photo booth setup on the red carpet during the press reception. A set of four photos were shot, animated and instantly uploaded to the web, which allowed people to easily share them on social. Check out Queen Latifah and Mary J. Blige pose for the camera.
- The Postano Platform– NYWICI partnered with Postano, a social media aggregation service, that curated and displayed posts about Matrix from all of NYWICI’s social networks. A team of NYWICI volunteers monitored the social media conversation and approved each post before displaying them on the large screens behind the stage.
