Many of our associations have strong industry events where non-members attend each year. It’s a challenge to figure out how to convert these attendees into members to keep them involved (and paying dues) throughout the year. We’re always seeking ways to make our memberships more enticing. One option is to create “members-only” sessions at your event. Non-members would miss certain important sessions or get restricted access to certain programs. Some of our clients have created special “member breakfast” sessions. The member breakfasts feel a bit more exclusive; they offer a special speaker and a nicer meal, while non-members have a basic breakfast in another room. These offerings give your members an added benefit, and may be enough incentive for non-members to reconsider membership.
