About the Authors
Steven Basart, Director, joined Kellen in 2006 overseeing the company’s China operations. Steven is highly experienced in developing China-entry strategies, overseeing local operations and developing relations with counterpart organizations. He also assists US and EU associations in developing China-focused marketing strategies. Steven is fluent in written and spoken Chinese, Dutch and English.
Joan Cear, Senior Vice President of Communications, develops and oversees the implementation of integrated marketing, communications and public affairs programs for associations, nonprofit organizations and corporate clients. This includes proactive initiatives designed to support clients’ strategic goals as well as issues management and crisis communications programs. A former journalist, Joan has more than 25 years of public relations experience and has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations.
Mélanie Collot, Senior Assistant, has 5 years of experience in association management. Mélanie provides day-to-day support for several European and international association clients. Additionally, Mélanie plans and executes all educational events for the Kellen Europe office. Mélanie graduated from the Haute École of Namur and holds a degree in management assistance. She speaks fluent English and Dutch.
Nele Devolder, Manager External Relations, develops and oversees the implementation of strategic communications programs, business development programs and strategic advice plans for European and international associations to broaden their reach. Nele has over 16 years of experience in the management of European and international trade associations and professional societies.
Olya Ryabinina, Director of Digital Strategy, is a strategic engagement specialist with a unique blend of digital and experiential marketing experience. Ms. Ryabinina has led experiential marketing efforts, overseen media planning and buying strategies and successfully managed reputation and branding campaigns for global brands such as Mercedes Benz, Audi, Valentino, Moët & Hennessey. Prior to joining Kellen, Ms. Ryabinina held positions managing channel marketing strategy for Philip Morris, served as a senior web marketing strategist at Oracle Corporation, and as a digital strategy specialist with LEVICK, a crisis communications agency.
René Schroeder, works as a Senior Association Manager in our Brussels office and is leading one of Kellen’s largest trade association clients. His expertise includes strategic advice, communications, and government affairs. He previously worked with several other European associations. He holds a postgraduate master’s degree in European studies from the College of Europe as well as a master in political science from the University of Rostock, Germany.
