Kellen is a global management and communications company serving more than 125 trade associations, professional societies and charitable organizations that represent over 10,000 companies and 100,000 professionals worldwide. Our professionals specialize in management, communications, digital strategy, regulatory affairs, meetings and events, and consulting across a diverse range of industries.
ComRes, an independent market research firm with offices in London and Brussels, fielded the study from April 12 to May 3, 2016. A total of 421 trade associations, professional societies and charitable organizations took part; 254 in the United States and 167 in Europe. In addition to the survey, Kellen hosted two focus groups: one in Brussels and one in Washington, D.C.. A complete list of focus group attendees can be found at the back of this report.

In this fourth year, several new questions were introduced to the online survey to keep pace with emerging trends. These include questions about the use of mobile apps, crowdfunding sites, and a deeper dive into the use of paid advertising. A core set of questions remained the same to allow for year-on-year comparisons.
